Ida Nerina, Soong Ai Ling and Erra Fazira are big names in Malaysian entertainment and for the first time all three are working together in a horror thriller. The movie is called Anak and is set to have its debut on February 21st. Ida and Erra are both award winning actresses and take on the leads. Soong Ai Ling, known for her modeling and producing for television, is on board as the producer with her company Box Lite Film.
Anak is about Nita (Erra) who tries to start a new life and decides to stay with her cousin Kay (Ida), after being traumatised by a dark past. It is in Kay’s home that Nita starts seeing a young child wandering around the house. Though at first Kay refuses to believe her, and suggests Nita seek psychiatric help instead, she soon realises that Nita’s trauma is somehow linked to her. Barney Lee directed and the cast also includes Rusdi Ramli (who picked up the best actor award at the Malaysian Film Festival last August), Esma Daniel and Indonesian Philip Jusuf. - Wes Laurie |
