Daybreakers is currently in production, with Ethan Hawke, William Dafoe, and Same Neil having joined the  cast. The film’s plot summary reads: “ In the year 2017, a plague has transformed most every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher works with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind.”
The twin brothers, Michael and Peter Spierig, who brought to offbeat horror film “Undead” to us in 2003 are both the writers and directors of this film. Ebert and his show were one of the harshest critics of Undead and the fan base for the twins is a select group it would seem, but with bigger named stars attached to the futuristic plot, perhaps it is now the time for the Spierig’s to truly shine.
