This news goes off into the sci-fi realms, but you’ll find science fiction themed movies right at home in many rental stores next to the horror. The 1956 classic movie THE FORBIDDEN PLANET is up on the blocks for Warner Brothers who have their movie mechanics working on it for a remake.
J. Michael Straczynski is writing the The Forbidden Planet remake with science fiction fans knowing him well as the creator of Babylon 5. Producer Joel Silver is also involved. The original tells the tale of an expedition sent from Earth to check on a colony of scientists on a far-off planet. The crew find a man who has discovered alien technology which doubles his intellect, Dr. Morbius, and his daughter, both of whom have managed to survive an unseen monster roaming the planet. - Wes Laurie |
