Guillermo del Toro, the director of Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, and Blade 2 takes on a producing role for the upcoming film “El Orfannato” aka “The Orphanage.”
This horror drama follows a woman and her son as they go back to the woman’s childhood home, a large creepy house, which she plans to turn into an orphanage. Judging from the movie trailer a lot of screaming in dark shadows soon thereafter ensues, along with some clips of what appears to be a child wearing a mask made from a burlap sack. The Spanish release of the film will be in October of 2007, however it does not plan to reach the US until December and even then it will be a limited release. Perhaps, if it is good, Guillermo’s track record with Pan’s Labyrinth will help The Orphanage get a better release schedule within the US. |
