Goosebumps was a horror series written by R.L. Stine for teens. Most of the books featured some sort of monster or haunted puppet tale and always a twist ending. Indeed there was a television show spin off of the book series, but now some of the Goosebumps stories should be heading for the big screen. Columbia Pictures has acquired the rights to the series, which has sold more copies than any teen series except for Harry Potter; though there were way more Goosebump books than Harry Potter books, so that’s kind of a drag on the bragging rights.

So, with PG-13 horror being the new genre craze as seen by studios, well Goosebumps may have the ability to take another step further and go PG with some of the productions. The project is supposedly getting fast tracked and writers are being sought. My own casting suggestion, if you really want to scare people, is actually cast the author R.L. Stine as a kid; check his pics and tell me he wouldn’t make for a creepy 10 year old.
