The estimated box office results are in for the weekend of August 31, with Rob Zombie’s remake of Halloween taking the top spot in earnings. As early as Friday analysis were predicting Zombie’s film to be a success, with the opening day sales being around or over $10 Million. Halloween has broken the record for a Labor Day box office opening weekend, which was previously held by the dismal film The Transporter 2. Here are the top 8 results: Halloween - $26 Million Superbad - $12.2 Million Balls of Fury - $11.6 Million The Bourne Ultimatum - $10.2 Million Rush Hour 3 - $8.5 Million Mr. Bean’s Holiday - $5.9 Million The Nanny Diaries - $5.1 Million Death Sentence - $4.2 Million I stopped at 8 to show where horror director James Wan’s dark new action thriller Death Sentence landed: eighth. Wan has to be feeling some let down having been beaten by not only Mr. Bean, but a Nanny!? - Wes Laurie |
