The word Kiwi can stand for many different things: it’s a fruit, it’s a bird, it’s a brand of shoe polish, and in the case of this news story it is a term referencing someone who hails from New Zealand. Kiwi was just more fun to type.
A 22 year old named Dale Stewart is the Kiwi of discussion and his psychological horror film entitled: Awakened. The film’s premise? It is about a haunted stationary cupboard that torments an office employee named Herb. This New Zealand film took 3 days to film with a crew of 12 and is now working on being the little horror film that could. Or something like that, generating some buzz after having been officially accepted by the New York Independent Film and Video Festival as well as the Los Angeles incarnation of the festival. Dale is currently doing some fund raising so that he can actually travel to the US to participate in the event firsthand. The New York Film Festival starts February 28th and Awakened is currently scheduled to get four showings during prime hours.
