Glenn Payne of Mississippi, his family, friends, and a small congregation of others spent their holiday doing what any aspiring movie-maker should have been doing: making a movie. The director, Payne, calls the project “Austin’s Attic” a dark fairytale, but others are dubbing it a horror film. It centers around a kid snooping for Christmas presents in the attic when he accidentally unleashes a monster and then must escape it. Payne also wrote the script which he says was inspired by the way the moonlight was shining on a pile of laundry; making it look monster-ish. Payne’s wife and himself are the main producers and a computer teacher has been providing the camera equipment as director of photography.

Not only has Payne’s family come together to help the project, but the town of Tupelo also stepped up to help in finding the filming location and the perfect house for the setting of this boy vs. monster showdown.

Payne told the Daily Journal, a local paper, that he plans to get the film out to festivals.
