Writer and director James Gunn’s last project was the gory fun film “Slither”, which did not do so well at the box office. Gunn’s roots in filmmaking go back to his works with Troma studios, well-known for splatter filled and often times “cheesy” gore movies. Well, Gunn’s career is not going to end up being a dead pile of guts as some fans may have feared after Slither was critically murdered. New Regency has stepped up to have him do his project “Pets” for them. The story for the film involves a man abducted by aliens who wish to keep him as a pet.
Gunn, also known for having written the Scooby Doo movies and the remake of Dawn of the Dead, also is working on the horror thriller: The Belcoo Experiment. The plot synopsis: “A group of 83 American expatriates who work in a building in Sao Paulo, Brazil, find themselves trapped in their workplace; a voice emits over the speaker system, forcing them through a series of murderous moral decisions.” Fans worry not, it seems Gunn is still shooting. - Wes Laurie |
