NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD RIFFTRAX Review

by Heather Wixson

I was a huge fan of the MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER series and actually enjoyed the movie a lot.  That being said, I was super psyched when I got a copy of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD RIFFTRAX to review.

RiffTrax is kinda the new MST3K, where Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett all get together and breathe a little life into some camp classics.  The first classic flick they have released is NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.

What's funny is that I never really found anything funny about George A. Romero's masterpiece NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD but somehow, I could not stop laughing at so many of the different things that the RiffTrax guys were pointing out.

The commentary was hilarious without being too overwhelming and while a few jokes here and there fell flat (which is standard because you can't win them all), overall, I was entertained as hell.

I would definitely recommend that anyone who is open to poking a little fun at some classic films should check out the RiffTrax series.  There's nothing really different about the films themselves except that they are digitally remastered and also come with a non-commentary version as well so you get a little extra bang for your buck.

Other Rifftrax genre titles include:

THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
REEFER MADNESS
CARNIVAL OF SOULS
HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL
PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE
