I’m not writing this as a review of Feast 2, however I will state that I was disappointed in the sequel. However, at the same time by listening to the commentary on the DVD I was given an excuse that I choose to believe in since I enjoyed the first movie so much.
Feast 2 felt like a movie chock full of filler material and then (not to ruin it for you) it ends in the middle of the action, right when things start to heat up; cliff hanger. Now I can save you some time if you don’t watch your movies with the commentary on. According to the commentary the reason Feast 2 ends as such and feels stretched for material as such, is due to money issues. Apparently they embarked on making Feast 2 and Feast 3 without enough funds to actually do both scripts. So, in order to make the two follow ups what they did was slice the script for Feast 2 in half and make it into 2 separate movies. Thus in all reality Feast 2 and 3 are still Feast 2 and the script for Feast 3 has been shelved with hopes of money flowing in perhaps one day to make such a thing. Hopefully they were able to pull out some creativity and make part three feel less like a small amount of material stretched, because the original started the series up with such a fun vibe. I would love t see these things take off as a successful franchise. Feast 3 is supposedly hitting DVD in February of 2009, and honestly I would suggest not bothering with part 2 if you haven’t seen it already, and just waiting to watch it along with 3. - Wes Laurie |
