Over at Dread Central, it was reported that principal photography commenced on January 31st for John Landis's latest flick, BURKE AND HARE. The film is lensing around London, Edinburgh, and Ealing Studios.
Simon Pegg is on board as William Burke and Andy Serkis will be playing William Hare. Other casting includes Isla Fisher as Ginny, an ambitious young actress and Burke’s love interest, and Jessica Hynes neé Stevenson as Hare’s haggard and suffering wife, Lucky. The remaining supporting cast consists of Oscar-nominee Tom Wilkinson, Tim Curry, Ronnie Corbett, Reece Shearsmith, David Schofield, Allan Corduner, Bill Baily, Hugh Bonneville, Michael Smiley, and the legendary Christopher Lee. DC also gave readers a bit of a history lesson on just who BURKE AND HARE were: For those unfamiliar with the misdeeds of Burke and Hare, which were known as the West Port Murders -- These crimes were perpetrated in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1827 and 1828. The killings were attributed to Irish immigrants William Burke and William Hare, who sold the corpses of their seventeen victims to the Edinburgh Medical College for dissection. Frankly, anything that has Landis directing I am immediately on board with, but when you boast a cast of that caliber, this makes BURKE AND HARE a must see in my book! - Heather Wixson |
