Wicked Little Things was directed by J.S. Cardone, who also directed the vampires in the desert film The Forsaken. Originally Tobe Hooper was meant to direct this project which centers around a woman and her two kids moving to a rural mountain town and finding a gang of ghost children roaming the woods. The ghost children were at one time slave labor for the local mines and after a not so accident, they were all killed and are now blood thirsty for revenge against anyone not of their own kin and bloodline.
Lori Heuring plays the lead role of the mother in the film and does a fine job of acting with the material at hand. All others in the cast fill their roles just as adequately. Another actor taking part in the spookiness is the environment itself, with the mountain woodlands being perfectly creepy. The setting itself helped get me in the mood for writing a positive review of the film as a whole. The kids go around killing people with mining tools and the blood does splash up. There have been several plots throughout horror history that use children as the evil and yet I don’t think it is done enough. The kids in this flick are quite effective in their roles, looking like dirty little Oliver Twist orphans gone amok. This review is going to be wicked short because Wicked Little things overall is just a solid little film and entertaining rent. Reviewer: Wes Laurie |
